The George Harrison Fund for UNICEF and ACUI Campus Challenge

To raise funds toward its mission of saving children’s lives worldwide, the U.S. Fund for UNICEF in 2008 partnered with ACUI and the George Harrison Fund for UNICEF for a fundraising challenge on campuses across America. To date, more than $1 million has been raised through this Challenge.

Campus Challenge LogoWe are pleased to announce that the partnership will continue for a fifth year with a challenge running from August 1, 2012 to May 31, 2013, as college students, faculty and student affairs professionals continue to show their interest in supporting UNICEF's work.

During the 2011-2012 academic year, college students and staff raised over $230,000 for UNICEF. Similar to previous years, fundraising efforts have been matched, dollar for dollar, up to $150,000, by the George Harrison Fund for UNICEF, leading to a total of $380,000 raised this year for UNICEF programs worldwide.

We are saddened to share that Ravi Shankar, legendary sitar player and great supporter of UNICEF, passed away on December 11, 2012, at the age of 92. Shankar was the one who first got George Harrison involved with UNICEF. Together they hosted the Concert for Bangladesh, the first ever major music event for a humanitarian cause.
